Nov 5-6, 2011 In Person Seminar with Jack Kornfield

A few years ago, I had the pleasure of hearing Jack Kornfield speak live. In a room full of both therapists, psychologists and meditators (and some who are all three), Jack held us spell bound for a full day as he described the bridge between mindfulness meditation, neuroplasticity and psychotherapy through experiences, examples and information. I would not have dreamt it possible, had I not experienced it for myself, but you could hear a pin drop as people who were skeptical were able to drop into that meditative quiet.

Jack Kornfield is another one of those master teachers who serves as a well-informed bridge for people who think they cannot meditate. Well-informed because he both studies and leads research into the what changes happen in the brain due to meditation AND because he teaches what he himself has lived and learned through his own practice of meditation. He is one of a handful of people who can come at meditation from a scientist’s wanting to understand “why and how?”, all the while knowing “yes it is” because he has journeyed there himself. Since he teaches mindfulness meditation, Jack teaches you how to listen more closely to your body (what hatha yoga practice strives to teach us). It is the foundation upon which I bring in the Mind-Body Connection into the Programs I teach.

It has been a while since he has given a live talk in Los Angeles, so I would act quickly on these tickets where he co-leads a two day seminar with Dan Siegel where they focus on awakening the mind for deeper, more connected relationships

MINDFUL LIVING AND THE NEUROBIOLOGY OF LOVE

Internationally esteemed Buddhist scholar and leader in the field of mindfulness meditation joins with a pioneer in the field of interpersonal neurobiology and mental health to explore how we can awaken the mind and live with peace and kindness in our most intimate relationships. Weaving an in-depth immersion in direct experience with cutting edge views into the inner functions of the brain, Jack Kornfield and Dan Siegel will lay out a new way of understanding how our connections with others—and ourselves—provide the foundation for living a healthy, joyful, and wise life. Built upon thousands of years of reflective practice and an innovative synthesis of over a dozen branches of contemporary science, Mindful Living and the Neurobiology of Love integrate the best of ancient wisdom with the power of empirical research to provide a timely vision into the nature of a healthy way of being in our modern and ever-changing world.
