Awaken to Vibrancy

Awaken to Vibrancy
Y

ou may be wondering “What can Meenal teach me about “awaken to vibrancy”? And what does that have to do with Meditation?” I’m a recovering Overworked Overwhelmed Overachiever, a state of being that I honed during my 15 years in corporate America … it didn’t even cross my mind to take a break while earning my MBA. I’ve put that state of being to good use more recently as an entrepreneur growing a Mind-Body wellness service. Believe me when I say that I have a deeply personal experience of how difficult it can be to quiet an active mind when faced with a never-ending TO DO List!

With a personal goal to “turn my mind off,” I sought relief from my tension headaches, sleeplessness, digestion problems and immune system depletion, by diving into yoga and meditation. I explored many different styles of yoga and meditation in the search of those techniques that were the most effective and were most easily incorporated into my busy life style. Remember, I am an Overachiever with an MBA, so effectiveness and efficiency rank high for me … how else will I get it all done?

Go ahead and smile … my Overachiever got the best of me again and I ended up certified with over 1,000 hours of training in Yoga Therapy! What’s Yoga Therapy? ProgramsThink of Yoga Therapy as learning to notice without judgment (this is meditation) your own body’s signs of stress, anxiety and overwhelm (this is yoga) so that you can choose to shift your state of being within a matter of minutes … any time of the day … anywhere you are … not just on a meditation mat.  Translation: What I learned is Body-Focused Meditation and this is what I teach.

Unexpectedly, what I found is that this way of “meditating” throughout my day resulted in a more vibrant experience of life … a life filled with a spectrum of choices on how to approach Life’s busy schedule … a life filled with a palette of colors and choices because I can easily re-center myself throughout my workday … a life where I quickly notice when I am sliding down the slippery slope of Overworked and Overwhelmed so that I can take steps to move back into Balance … a life that now contains deep restful sleep … a life created from an underlying healthful balance of Body, Mind and Spirit.

Revealing the Hidden Cost of Unconscious Tension
That’s why I don’t call myself a “meditation teacher” or “yoga teacher” … because it isn’t about doing meditation or doing yoga. Rather it is what meditation and yoga do for you. So, I prefer the title “Mind-Body-Spirit Educator” because what brings me alive is to re-educate other Overworked Overwhelmed Overachievers on how to get out of your head, get into your body and awaken to the qualities of joy, inspiration, wonder, creativity, peace and connectedness that I believe are the human expressions of Spirit. That’s the secret … that’s the pot of gold we’ve been seeking … that’s Balance.

If what I’ve shared is what you are seeking, take a deep breath, exhale and welcome!

And in case you were wondering whether there is any credibility to what I teach, I serve on the advisory board of the Camarillo Health Care District’s Healthy Attitudes. The Ventura County Star has twice featured full-page articles about the programs that I offer. I have been hired by corporate clients to introduce my tools into employee wellness programs and the corporate strategic planning process. I have been a regular contributor to Healthy Attitudes magazine and Green Home and Family magazine. Most recently, I was a featured author in the best-selling book, Speaking Your Truth: Courageous Stories from Inspiring Women. While these serve as some of my credentials, I share them because each accomplishment affirms for me my extremely edgy decisions to step outside of the Corporate box and think outside of the labels “yoga” and “meditation.”  After all, it was those decisions that led to me developing something radically useful and effective … for both me and for you.
